Synopsis

49-year-old Kozo Izaku struggled through the Employment Ice Age generation and currently works as a janitor at an elite private high school in a regional town. While most students look down on him, he frequently chats in the janitor's room with Ruri Shirai, a gal-styled student who stands out on campus.

Just before summer vacation, Kozo finishes work, goes to sleep at his apartment, and wakes up in another world. Summoned by a king, he defeats the Demon Lord, receives a reward, and returns to his original world—only to find that just a single night has passed.

Hoping to quit his janitor job and spend the rest of his life living off the reward, Kozo's excitement is short-lived. The outside of his apartment is infested with zombies, and his level—raised in the other world—has reset to 1.

"...Surviving comes first!"

Drawing on his combat experience from defeating the Demon Lord, Kozo slays zombies, levels up, and travels around gathering food and supplies into his "Item Box" to prepare for a comfortable life ahead.

"Guess I'll head to the deep mountain village where my grandfather lived..."

With a stash of supplies and an increased level, Kozo has no intention of saving the world or exterminating all zombies. Instead, he aims for the abandoned village where his grandfather's family home is. However, worrying whether Ruri Shirai is still alive, he decides to stop by his school first...

Along the way, Kozo saves another beautiful girl: "Thank you for saving me from being turned into a zombie." "(Shoot! I didn't think this through at all!)"

After safely reuniting with Ruri, Kozo ends up scrambling to ensure their safety.

This is the story of an Ice Age middle-aged man surviving a zombie-infested modern world alongside beautiful young women.
