I Formed a Party with a Girl via an Adventurer Matching App - Chapter 4

 What is Their Compatibility?

"……W-Well, I suppose so...!"

Cordelia said, her voice still carrying a heavy trace of her inner turmoil.

"It’s only natural for me, the Academy’s valedictorian, to be exceptional, but for a stray, you actually didn't do half bad either, I suppose?!"

"You too. You moved so fluidly, I honestly couldn't believe it was your first real battle."

"Of course I did! It might be my first time on a real battlefield, but I’ve challenged countless sparring matches against instructors and trained monsters!"

"I see. I thought you just had an incredibly massive ego, but it turns out your confidence is backed up by an insane amount of practice."

"Hmph! But the only reason my attacks pierced the Violet Dragon so easily was because you were actively drawing its aggro and forcing open its blind spots! It irritates me to admit it, but I’ll give you credit for that!"

"No, I have to re-evaluate my opinion of you too. Without me even having to say a word, you read the entire battlefield and seized the openings at the perfect microsecond."

Fueled by the lingering high of taking down a titanic foe, we praised one another, completely forgetting that we had been at each other's throats just moments ago.

Then, Cordelia furrowed her beautiful, willow-shaped eyebrows and looked down.

"It frustrates me, but... even for someone like me, there's no way I could have done this alone. I might have the decisive power to finish an opponent off, but I lack the raw physical strength required to force an opening."

"The same goes for me. I had my hands completely full just reacting to the enemy's movements on the fly. There were easily more than a few times I was saved because your movements anticipated my intentions before I could even voice them."

We reflected on the battle we had fought today.

Then, biting her pale-pink lips in vexation, Cordelia muttered:

"Hmph. It’s infuriating, but I have no choice but to admit it."

"……Yeah. I feel the exact same way."

This female adventurer named Cordelia.

She was an obnoxious woman who looked down on me as a "stray" just because I became an adventurer without attending an academy. But at the very least, when it came to our dynamic as fellow adventurers, there was absolutely no doubt that she was my best partner.

"Wait a second, you."

"Hm? What?"

"I’ll admit that your movements are good, but can you do something about that absolutely atrocious body armor?!"

"Huh?! What do you mean 'atrocious'?! What's wrong with it?!"

……It seemed that our compatibility in every other department remained as terrible as ever. We leaned in and started shouting, getting right back into each other's faces.

"It is atrocious! What is up with that silver-and-yellow striped body armor?! It’s making my eyes twitch!"

"Wh-...! Hey, leave it alone! This happens to be a limited-edition color model from the 'Silver & Yellow Stripe Armor Shop,' you know?!"

"What kind of armor brand is that?! That is so un-be-liev-ably TACKY!!!!! And with a name like the 'Silver & Yellow Stripe Armor Shop,' the silver-and-yellow striped one is the limited color?! What color armor do they usually sell?!"

"A blue-green and mulberry-colored horizontal border pattern."

"THAT IS DISGUSTINGLY TACKYYYYYYYYY!!!!!"

"I own two of them."

"Why on earth would you go back for seconds?!"

As if a literal chill had run down her spine, Cordelia hugged herself and shook her head in sheer disgust.

"Never wear something that ugly again! People are going to think I’m tacky just by association!"

With that, Cordelia huffed and turned her face away.

I wondered if she had realized what she’d just blurted out.

“People are going to think I'm tacky just by association”... In other words, she fully intended to keep hanging around me from now on.

"……I'll be in your care from here on out too, then. Cordelia."

"Hmph. Just do your best not to drag me down."

Considering she had explicitly told me not to speak her name so casually earlier, this was quite the turnaround.

……By the way, though.

For a pair boasting a 99.98% matching rate, wasn't there one specific category where our compatibility was a dead-on match of over 200%?

……Bedroom Compatibility. The exact number was 215.40%.

It had been proven that Cordelia was the ultimate partner as an adventurer. But could that mind-boggling, 200%-plus Bedroom Compatibility actually be real too……?

Naturally, my eyes were drawn toward Cordelia’s voluptuous bust, its impressive size apparent even over her chestplate. Sensing my gaze, Cordelia’s eyes suddenly snapped wide open.

When we first met at the guild, she had instantly shielded her chest. But now, after having defeated the Violet Dragon together...

"……We need to head back to the guild to report the subjugation as soon as possible."

Instead of hiding herself, Cordelia puffed out her chest slightly as if to flaunt it. Gently flipping her shimmering, brilliant blonde twin-tails back, Cordelia looked over at me…… with cheeks that were flushed quite a deep shade of red.

"And so... if you don't mind, that is..."

"Y-Yeah...?"

"Afterward... would you like to go somewhere, just the two of us... to celebrate?"
