Using a Mysterious Spellbook Ended Up Creating a Slave Harem - Chapter 5

Self-Introductions and the School Tour

The commute to Private K University Affiliated High School took about forty minutes in total: walking from my house to the nearest station, riding the train for six stops, and then walking from the station to the school. On the day after the entrance ceremony, I traveled to school along that exact route.

Entering the classroom, which was still quiet as everyone sized each other up, I took my assigned seat. Since the beautiful girl in front of me arrived shortly after, I immediately activated the same basic affection-boosting magic on her that I had used on Iroha, keeping it running continuously the moment she sat down.

Rina Takechi showed up just in the nick of time, and the homeroom teacher entered the classroom immediately after. After making various announcements and confirmations, it was time for self-introductions.

With a total of thirty-two students—fifteen boys and seventeen girls—comprising thirty from the general track and two from the entertainment track, I had been wondering who the other entertainment track student was. I didn't have to wait long to find out.

"Kento Esaka, from the entertainment track. I graduated from △△ Middle School in △△ district. For now, I work as a model for fashion magazines. Nice to meet you all."

A flashy-looking, slender guy was speaking with an affected coolness. Since it was the entertainment track, a girl would have been much better than a guy. Of course, the girls in the class didn't seem to share that sentiment, as he received a large round of applause from them. After that, the ordinary self-introductions continued until it was finally the turn of the first ultra-beautiful girl.

"I am Otowa Kojina. I graduated from □□ Middle School in □□ district. Nice to meet you."

It was a bare-minimum introduction. Even so, likely because she was such a beauty, the applause from our classmates—especially the boys—was noticeably louder. Kojina-san, huh? She really is cute, I thought as I got my own introduction out of the way without any hitches. After two more people finished, the moment everyone in the class had been waiting for finally arrived.

"Um, hello everyone. I am Rina Takechi, and I came from Private 〇〇 Middle School."

"As you all probably know, I work as an idol."

"I don't think I'll be able to come to school very often, but I look forward to getting along with you."

As the ultra-popular idol finished her introduction, a loud, roaring round of applause erupted. Some of the boys were even clapping wildly while making strange, excited noises. Thinking about how tough it would be for the next person to introduce themselves in this atmosphere, I tuned out the remaining introductions. For the time being, the only ones in this class I wanted to enslave were those two ultra-beautiful girls.

"Well then, let's make it a good year together. Next, we will be doing a tour of the school campus. Please line up in the hallway just like we did during the entrance ceremony."

Perhaps because it was a private college-preparatory school, the grounds were vast and the facilities were supposedly incredible, which was why we were starting with a tour. As we lined up in the hallway, someone muttered, "What is this, elementary school?!"

Regarding the high school buildings, there was the Main Building (South Wing), which housed the faculty offices as well as the general and entertainment track classrooms. The North Wing contained the classrooms and related facilities for the advanced track. The Separate Building (East Wing) held specialized classrooms like the art room. The Old Building (West Wing) contained the clubrooms for cultural clubs and circles, while the Club Building housed the sports clubs. Since the university campus was directly adjacent, it seemed we could occasionally use their facilities as well for club activities. There was also a massive library shared by both the high school and the university.

It was while we were being guided through that library and listening to an explanation that it happened.

"Oh? Atsushi-kun?"

Turning toward the female voice calling out from the side, I saw Iroha standing there with a gentle smile. I hadn't expected to encounter her in a situation like this, so I answered with a bit of flustered agitation.

"Ah... It's been a while, Iroha-sensei."

"Hello. ...Ah, I see, a school tour?"

"Yeah, pretty much."

As we exchanged words, my classmates stared at us intently, as if trying to probe into the situation. Iroha might not quite compare to Rina Takechi or Otowa Kojina, but she was still a top-tier beauty, which probably explained the attention. Well, some of them might also be wondering why a university student was in a place like this. While I was thinking about that, our homeroom teacher, Wada-sensei, strolled over toward us in a relaxed manner.

"Is something the matter? Oh, Soejima-san?"

"Wada-sensei. It's been a long time."

"It really has. Are you a third-year now?"

"Yes. I'll be job hunting soon."

"That must be tough. Best of luck. So, what brings you here?"

"Oh, nothing much. I just happened to spot a student I tutored for two years."

At those words, the gazes of everyone around us—especially the boys—focused entirely on me. They were probably thinking about how envious it was that I had such a legal-loli beauty as a private tutor.

"You mean Saida-kun?"

"Yes. He was a very excellent student."

"I see. ...By the way, Soejima-san, your aura has changed."

"My aura?"

"Yes. You seem to have a much softer air about you now."

"...Come to think of it, I feel like I used to be much more rigid before."

"You are much more charming now. Well, we should be moving along soon."

"Yes. I'm sorry for interrupting. Well then, see you later, Atsushi-kun."

"Yes, Iroha-sensei."

Smiling at me with a light wave of her hand, Iroha slowly walked out of the library. I thought that would be the end of it, but Wada-sensei spoke to me.

"Saida-kun. Was Soejima-san always like that from the beginning?"

"No, she was much colder at first. She only started showing smiles around the summer of last year."

"I see. ...Actually, I was her homeroom teacher when she was a third-year in high school, and seeing her just now sets my mind at ease."

"...I can understand that, in a way."

"............We hadn't finished the explanation of the library, had we? Come along, let's listen to the rest."

At Wada-sensei's words, we returned to the school tour. A few boys looked like they wanted to ask me about Iroha, but I listened to the explanations as if I hadn't noticed. All the while, I thought about how glad I was that I had strictly forbidden her from calling me "Master" anywhere except when we were completely alone.

Once the school tour concluded, the next event was the introduction of club activities in the gymnasium. To be honest, I had absolutely zero interest in clubs, so I only participated half-heartedly. After that, we returned to the classroom to be dismissed before noon. Actual classes wouldn't start until Monday of the following week.

"Since the upperclassmen have lessons in the afternoon as well, please hold off on club activities until Monday."

""Yes.""

"There are also circles available other than the clubs introduced earlier, so it might be a good idea to visit the Old Building from Monday onward."

""Understood.""

"Well then, let's wrap things up for today. Aizawa-kun, if you please."

"M—Me again?!"

"We will be choosing the class representatives on Monday, so this is the last time. Unless, of course, Aizawa-kun becomes the representative."

"Haha!"

"We're counting on you!"

"I'd rather pass on that. Well then... Stand! Bow! Dismissed?"

"Not again!"

The moment the awkward dismissal signal was given, Takechi-san and Kojina-san quickly left the classroom before anyone could even attempt to talk to them. I didn't have any particular reason to linger either and was thinking of heading home early, when the boy sitting behind me called out.

"Uh, it was Saida, right?"

"Hmm? ...And you're Shigemitsu, I think."

"Yeah, Eita Shigemitsu. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too."

"...By the way, that person we met in the library, is she really a third-year in university?"

"Well, I can understand why it's hard to believe."

"Seriously. I thought she was a middle schooler."

At this point, the boy sitting to my right joined the conversation. For context, the seat to my left belonged to a girl, but she had already vanished.

"And you're Chigasaki, right?"

"Yep. Umetaro Chigasaki. Nice to meet you both."

"Yeah, nice to meet you. I'm Atsushi Saida."

"I guess I didn't need an introduction since you heard it."

"My bad. But man, anyone would be interested if a college girl like that was a private tutor."

"She was literally just my tutor, though."

"My private tutor was this gloomy-looking guy. He was good at teaching, though."

"Mine was a college girl, but her face was pretty unfortunate."

""I'm so jealous.""

"Don't say it at the same time. Well, I did look forward to the tutoring sessions, though."

"Of course you did. Well, this class does have two beauties who completely surpass her, though."

"It's a shame one of them probably won't be coming to school much."

"She's an idol, so it can't be helped."

Chatting casually, the three of us left the classroom. Thinking that they seemed decent enough to have around as friends for the time being, I made my way home.
