With my [Appraisal] Skill, I Became the Top of the Streaming World - Chapter 31

Contact from an Ex-Colleague, and a Request Re-issued for Yokohama

Opening my smartphone in the morning, I found a text that Miura had left.

"Word is spreading a bit at the company."

I felt a faint prickle of unease.

Unlike groundless, anonymous posts on the internet, this involved people whose faces and names I actually knew, moving right within my old circles.

However, I had no direct way to stop whatever was happening inside my former workplace.

All I could do was focus on what was right in front of me.

A short while later, I replied to Miura.

"I don't intend to say anything to the company. Please don't spread the word any further. But if anything concrete actually happens, just let me know then."

I hit send and set my phone down.

About fifteen minutes later, a reply came back.

"Understood. I don't plan on spreading it either. I think someone like Furuta-san has probably noticed, though. Just thought I'd let you know before it turns into an awkward rumor through General Affairs."

I didn't reply.

He always added an unnecessary comment while thinking he was doing a favor.

Miura had been exactly that type of person ever since our time together at the company.

Just before noon, a message arrived from Asada.

"Regarding the Yokohama Host Rock issue, we would like to ask for an additional confirmation before bringing in the Management Bureau's specialized team. There is a possibility that an unverified adhesion reaction remains near the previous extraction point. We will issue this as a formal request, so please decide whether you can accept it."

There had been a discolored section on the wall near where I had cut out the fragments I brought back last time.

I hadn't paid much attention to it then, but if we were to double-check, that would be the spot.

"I accept. I'll adjust my schedule after I finish my next stream."

"Thank you. I will send the request email by tomorrow."

With that, our correspondence ended.

I opened my smartphone to check my schedule.

Tonight’s stream, then Yokohama.

I just needed to handle them one by one.

At night, I started my 25th stream.

"Today, I'm heading down to check out B4F of Shinagawa. Last time was B3F, so I'm going a bit deeper."

Comments began to scroll past.

『The vibe is nice and relaxed today too.』

『I like these regular, low-key streams.』

『Last time on B3F was pretty different from a typical dungeon, wasn't it?』

"Don't expect any massive discoveries," I said.

I descended to B4F.

The passages here were narrower than on B3F, and the lighting was spaced further apart.

This B4F sector where I frequently stream is probably more than twice as large as B3F. Since this area falls under the jurisdiction of the Tokyo Dungeon, other entrances share the same characteristics. It was from this sector onward that I could finally start doing proper "explorer" work.

If there was one major difference from the other entrances, it was that monsters were hunted frequently here, meaning it was exceptionally well-maintained.

Because of that, it was a sector where even an explorer with zero combat capability like myself could guarantee a relative amount of safety.

Compared to B3F, it was strangely dry, and the ground was a bit slippery with sand mixed in. The texture of the walls was slightly different too, but based on my past experience, it was an easy place to explore.

As I moved down the passage, I noticed a few small metal fragments caught on the ground near the wall.

They were thin metal plates about three centimeters long, with a small hole in the corner.

The surfaces were discolored, and faint engravings remained.

They looked like nothing more than old name tags or scrap metal.

"There are a few small metal pieces on the ground. Let me check them."

I picked one up and cast 【Appraisal】 on it.

Old-Model Sealing Tag (Single)

Rarity: C+

Material: Old-Model Magic-Stifling Alloy

Individual Sale Value: 2,000 – 4,000 yen

Remarks: A tag used as an identification and sealing component for old-model sealing boxes and magic storage containers.

While its utility is limited on its own, acquiring a set of 3 to 4 tags of the same type creates a demand for them as repair materials for old-model containers. As a bundle, the value reaches approximately 40,000 – 70,000 yen.

"They aren't worth much individually, but if you gather a complete set of the same type, they go for about forty to seventy thousand yen."

I checked the surroundings.

Identical pieces were scattered along the base of the wall. Including the one I was holding, there were five in total.

"There are four more here. I'll take them all back with me."

『Low-key, but a steady earn.』

『So the value goes up if you complete the set?』

『I like this kind of steady, honest work.』

"We can't always have days where we find massive items. This is plenty for me."

I gathered the five tags and placed them into my bag.

I always felt more at ease doing things like this—finding and picking up items that lacked flashiness, things that could only be spotted by someone who truly knew what to look for.

This approach suited the current me best.

I wrapped up the stream two hours later.

The peak viewer count hit 5,900. Following the last one, it had been a calm stream.

Checking the forum threads, there didn't seem to be any new developments.

As I checked my other apps, I saw a notification waiting in my messaging app. It was from Miura.

"Your name hasn't come up yet. But some people might recognize your voice."

There was no particular need to reply, so I left it as it was.

On my desk in my room, I pulled up my private appraiser certificate and the request email for the re-investigation of Yokohama from Asada on my screens, then lined up the five old-model sealing tags I had recovered today.

The invisible pressure from the real world was building up bit by bit.

Even so, it wasn't going to change what I had to do. I figured I'd just focus on what was right in front of me—that was the kind of day it had been.
