Middle-Aged Man Isekai Summoning - Chapter 3
Training
The next morning, we were called to the training grounds.
(Combat training right out of the gate? What kind of military is this...?)
On the way to the training grounds, I happened to glance at the women walking beside me. They were keeping a clear, deliberate distance from me, as if avoiding me.
(All I did was tell the truth...)
Pondering that, we arrived at the training area. A large group of soldiers had already gathered inside, and before long, a handsome knight called out in a loud voice.
"Everyone, please gather over here!"
Following his voice, we assembled before him. Standing there was a handsome blonde knight alongside a beautiful woman. The blonde knight was tall with refined features, and his striking presence commanded attention. The women’s eyes naturally turned toward him all at once.
"Nice to meet you, everyone. I am Alphus Reinhardt, Commander of the Royal Knights."
(Wait, this handsome guy is the Commander...?)
A Commander is basically at a department manager level, so I assumed it’d be some middle-aged guy, leaving me completely taken aback. On top of that, he was tall, blonde, and had a gentle, welcoming demeanor.
(He must be wildly popular. If a guy this handsome talked about a skill like mine, he probably wouldn't get treated like trash the way I did...)
I let out a quiet sigh.
"I am Irene, the Vice Commander."
Irene-san had long blue hair and a stunning, model-like figure. Her cool, serene eyes and calm demeanor left a strong impression. The moment she spoke, everyone’s attention naturally shifted to her.
"Thank you. I am—"
Yuno introduced herself first, and the rest of us followed. Once introductions wrapped up, we asked why we had been summoned. The Commander began to explain:
"Today, I will explain magic to you all. According to past records, many people summoned here come from worlds without magic, so we will start with the absolute basics."
Though caught off guard by the unexpected topic, my interest was immediately piqued.
(Whoa! They're gonna teach us magic?!)
Despite my age, the idea of an unknown power like magic got me genuinely excited.
"First, magic is the art of altering internal mana and releasing it outside the body. For example, like this: 'O Flame, heed my will—Fireball.'"
The Commander raised his hand, and a vivid ball of fire materialized above it. The fireball floated gently in the air, glowing softly.
"Whoa!"
I blurted out in amazement at the sight.
(So cool! Can I do that too?!)
Chest swelling with expectation, I stared blankly at the flames. But when I looked around, everyone else looked completely unfazed, carrying cool, unbothered expressions.
Noticing this, the Commander tilted his head in confusion and asked:
"Oh? Don't tell me everyone except Dai-san already knows magic?"
Yuno stepped forward and answered:
"Yes, my world had magic too. In my case, I can use magic to summon a special sword... 'First Sword.'"
The moment Yuno whispered, a sword glowing with a deep crimson light appeared in her hands. The blade possessed a mysterious aura, wrapped in a flame-like light as if it were alive.
"That's incredible...!"
As I muttered in awe, Maya stepped forward next.
"I can use magic too, though my system is different."
She held a smartphone-like device in her hand, aimed it at the empty grounds, and chanted.
" 'Flame Burst.' "
With those words, a section of the empty field suddenly exploded. A roaring blast echoed as fire and smoke surged into the air. The sheer force made me reflexively step back.
"W-What was that?! A Demon attack?!"
"H-Hey! There's a massive hole in the ground!"
The explosion blew a massive crater into the training grounds, sending the surrounding area into an uproar.
"I-I'm so sorry...! I overdid it...///"
"N-No! It's fine! We can repair it later!"
Maya apologized in a hurry, though her face showed little genuine remorse and a whole lot of self-satisfaction. Watching her, the Commander forced his trembling legs to stay still while responding. Sweating profusely, he wiped his forehead and took a deep breath. Once he finally regained his composure, he resumed speaking:
"Can the rest of you do similar things?"
At his question, everyone except me gave a firm nod. Seeing that, the Commander's face instantly brightened with joy.
"That's wonderful! Learning the basics of magic usually takes the longest time, so this helps immensely! In that case, shall everyone except Dai-san move on to individual training?"
"Yes!"
Everyone responded energetically and dispersed to their respective training sessions, leaving me standing there completely alone.
(Man... standing here like a helpless kid is pretty embarrassing...)
Filled with guilt, I stood frozen. The Commander turned back toward me with a gentle, reassuring smile.
"Well then, Dai-san, I will continue explaining magic to you."
"T-Thank you very much..."
As everyone scattered, I was the only one receiving one-on-one instruction from the Commander. Though feeling awkward inside, I shifted my mindset—I just had to do what I could right now.
"What is your magic power rank, Dai-san?"
"It's E..."
"I see..."
The Commander knit his brows slightly in concern, but quickly regained his gentle expression.
"In that case, it might be more efficient for you to learn basic utility magic and focus primarily on physical weapons."
"As I thought, an E rank is really low, isn't it..."
When I dropped my shoulders in disappointment, the Commander smiled and shook his head.
"Well, E rank is indeed the lowest tier, but magic depends on how you use it. With proper ingenuity, it can be plenty useful. Besides, magic aptitudes play a role too. What were your magic elemental aptitudes?"
"Fire, Wind, Earth, and Water."
"Oh! That's incredible!"
The Commander's face lit up instantly.
"Most people only have one, or two at most. Having four is astonishing! Dai-san, simply having those aptitudes is fantastic!"
"I-Is that so?"
In this world, magic is categorized into basic attributes (Fire, Wind, Earth, Water, Lightning) and advanced attributes (Light, Dark, Time). Having four basic aptitudes was exceptionally rare. However, because of my low mana reserves, medium- or large-scale magic used for battlefield combat was out of the question.
"With a broad aptitude, mastering the basics will allow for a versatile combat style. Let's take it step by step!"
Slightly brightened by the Commander's encouragement, I prepared myself to follow his guidance with a refreshed mindset.
"Now, try chanting just like I did earlier. The trick is to chant while vividly imagining the magic you want to manifest♪"
I regularly practice mental imagery—specifically, mental simulation for sexual positions and procedures tailored to a woman's body type.
(So visualization is my specialty!)
Picturing the fireball from earlier in my mind, I chanted:
" 'O Flame, heed my will—Fireball.' "
Whoosh! A small ball of fire appeared from my hand.
"Ehh?! To cast it on your very first try is amazing! Do you regularly practice meditation or something?"
"W-Well... something like that..."
I obviously couldn't tell him I was doing mental imagery for sex. After that, I successfully cast magic for all four attributes.
"I didn't expect things to go this smoothly! Next, try hitting that target over there with magic."
"Got it! 'O Water, heed my will—Waterball.'"
Thwack! My spell hit the target dead center. Because I constantly practiced targeting specific spots with semen to please women, something like this was second nature. The Commander stared at me with a look of pure shock and admiration.
"Dai-san, that's truly impressive! To master it this quickly..."
"No, no, it's only because you're such a great teacher♪"
While remaining humble, I felt a small sense of accomplishment inside. Seeing how smoothly things were going, the Commander enthusiastically moved on to the next topic:
"Next is weapons. Please choose one from here. Each weapon has its own unique traits, so please consult me before picking♪"
Swords, shields, axes, spears... Facing a wide variety of options, I genuinely didn't know what to pick. As I mulled it over, a certain spear caught my eye.
"What kind of trait does this one have?"
"That spear has the ability to expand and contract using magic power."
Considering magic usage, weapon flexibility based on mental imagery would be strong in this world. Since I had learned staff fighting for self-defense back home, this spear felt manageable.
"I'll go with this one, please."
"A fine choice! Most people tend to pick swords, but weapons that allow long-range attacks are much more practical in real battle. Irene specializes in spears, so why don't we have her teach you? Irene!"
Irene-san, who was training Aria and the others, hurried over when called.
"Commander! Is something wrong?"
"Sorry to interrupt, but could you teach Dai-san how to use a spear?"
"Yes, understood!"
Irene-san and I moved to a separate spot to begin spear training.
"Let's start with basic movements. I'll demonstrate first, so please mirror my movements. We'll make adjustments from there."
"Got it!"
(Matching movements with a partner is my specialty! Though, usually only with women! I'm glad Irene-san is a woman!)
I had trained myself through stretching and mental imagery to move every single muscle fiber in my body in real-time response to a woman's movements and positions.
"It's like looking into a mirror... Have you trained with a spear somewhere before?"
"Just a little staff fighting. But it's just cheap imitation—anyone could do it♪"
"I doubt just anyone could do this... Regardless, I'll show you several forms, so please continue."
"Understood."
After I mirrored all of Irene-san's movements, she told me she had nothing left to teach me. All that remained was repetitive practice to engrain it into muscle memory and sparring with soldiers to get a feel for fighting against different weapons. And with that, Day 2 came to an end.
(Still, Irene-san walked back with her shoulders slumped... Did I do something wrong?)
