I Formed a Party with a Girl via an Adventurer Matching App - Chapter 1
The 100% Match Girl
"Huh?! Why is some weak-looking loser like you a 100% match with me?!"
The moment she spotted me in the adventurer's guild lobby, the woman confronting me let out a shrill, hysterical shriek.
To put it mildly, she was a stunning woman. And since she was standing here in the guild, she had to be an adventurer too.
Her silky, fine blonde hair was tied into twin-tails with pink ribbons. Her strong-willed eyebrows were sharply angled in a fierce scowl, and beneath them, her piercing upturned eyes boasted prominent lower lashes, giving her an incredibly intimidating glare. She had a high nose, glossy pale-pink lips, and a sharp jawline. Yet, her cheeks still held a soft, smart roundness to them, currently flushed a faint red.
She was tall for a woman, boasting a slender, toned build that could easily pass for a fashion model's. She wore a long-sleeved shirt buttoned tight all the way to her neck, paired with a miniskirt that put her dazzling white thighs on full display. As for actual armor, she only wore thin iron plates over her chest and the backs of her hands. Given her lightweight equipment prioritizing mobility, I figured she was likely a high-agility build. The slender, one-handed sword hanging from her waist confirmed she was a melee fighter.
She was the adventurer paired with me through a service known as the "Adventurer Matching App."
The Adventurer Matching App was a service operated by the Adventurer's Guild. By having adventurers register their personal data, the app would match compatible individuals together to form parties.
And this beautiful woman standing before me, introduced as my perfect match by said app, was currently—
"No wayyyyyyy! Absolutely NOT! Why is this happening to me?!"
She screamed and wailed at the top of her lungs, thrashing her beautiful blonde twin-tails wildly.
...She was throwing such a single-minded tantrum that it completely ruined her gorgeous looks.
"I can't believe this! This is ridiculous! It has to be a mistake! Yes! There's absolutely no way!"
She threw a fit, stomping her feet hard enough to smash the marble floor. She was so worked up that every time she kicked her legs high into the air, the hem of her miniskirt flipped up, flashing her white underwear. But she was too furious to even notice.
"That's right! It makes no sense! I mean, I graduated top of my class from the Holy Regiastar Academy! Why on earth would my match be a pathetic, useless blockhead like him?!"
"...Hey. I’ve been letting you talk, but who are you calling a pathetic, useless blockhead?"
"Eeeek?! It spoke?!"
"Of course I spoke! Anyone would after being insulted like that!"
"What do you have to complain about?! You look completely spacing out! No matter how you look at it, you're a pathetic, useless blockhead! Or would you prefer 'clueless, good-for-nothing slacker' instead?!"
"I don't even know what the difference is between those two!"
"That's exactly why you're a clueless, good-for-nothing slacker!"
Contorting her beautiful face in pure rage, she shrieked at a volume that was practically a scream: "Staff! Get a guild staff member over here right now!"
Moments later, a neatly dressed woman who looked exactly like a proper civil servant from a crown-operated guild came rushing over.
"How may I help you?"
"How may you help me?! There's a mistake in the Adventurer Matching App provided by the guild!"
"That shouldn't be possible..."
The guild staff member blinked and looked down at the documents in her hand. Then, as if to double-check, she turned back to the glaring woman with the sharply arched eyebrows.
"You are Miss Cordelia Salisbury, correct?"
"Yes, I am! I am Cordelia, valedictorian of the 84th graduating class of the Holy Regiastar Academy, and the future Great Hero!"
The staff member gave a slight nod, then shifted her gaze toward me, standing opposite Cordelia.
"And you are Mr. Kent O'Brien, correct?"
"Yeah."
Kent O'Brien. That is, without a doubt, my name.
I'm just a dime-a-dozen, ordinary adventurer with nothing particularly noteworthy to my name. Until now, I’d been working as a solo player, earning a meager daily living by slaying local goblins and slimes. Having been an adventurer for a decent amount of time, I figured it was about time to tackle some higher-rank quests. I tried out the matching app to find a party... and this was the immediate result.
Cordelia, my supposed match, curled her lip in sheer disgust, looking like she couldn't even stand the sight of me standing in front of her.
Showing absolutely no effort to hide her contempt, she questioned me.
"Hey. I already told you my graduation year from the Academy. What year did you graduate, 'adventurer'?"
The Academy, as the name implied, was a school meant for training adventurers. The Holy Regiastar Academy that Cordelia graduated from was considered the absolute pinnacle of those institutions—a school for the elite. Graduating as the valedictorian meant her high-spec skills weren't just empty boasts.
On the other hand, as for me...
"I didn't go to an academy. I'm a stray adventurer."
"A stray?!"
Cordelia shrieked, biting down on my words instantly.
"A stray?! You're a stray?! Oh, how terrifying! Just hearing it gives me the chills! A stray who can't do anything but run wild because they never received a proper education in adventuring!"
"Hey, keep talking you...! You just graduated from the academy, didn't you?! That means I've got way more real-world experience than you!"
"Experience is just something low-life creatures brag about because they lack the brains to actually study! The idea that a savage who doesn't even know the absolute basics of adventuring is my match has to be a mistake! Right?! Even the guild must think so!"
"The data is correct. The matched pair for this session is indeed Mr. Kent O'Brien and Miss Cordelia Salisbury."
"Whaaaaaaaaat?!?!?!"
Cordelia glared daggers while letting out a soul-piercing screech, but the guild employee didn't flinch.
Instead, she held up the parchment sheet in her hand, turning it so we could clearly read the text written upon it.
