I Formed a Party with a Girl via an Adventurer Matching App - Chapter 14

 Has My Era Finally Arrived?!

Escorted all the way to the exit by the clerk, we left 'Aoyama: Outfitter of Armed Attire' behind.

For the record, I was currently wearing the newly styled 3.5 million Noogle outfit. Just knowing that I was wearing 3.5 million Noogle made me feel a bit on edge.

Because my current look was entirely too different from what I normally wore, it still felt a little unfamiliar to walk around in. At that moment, unlike when we were heading to the shop, Cordelia stepped up and walked right next to me.

"Chest out, Kent. Right now, you actually look passable."

"Even after a total makeover, I'm still just 'passable'?"

"To me, yes."

Cordelia said, flashing a deeply meaningful smile.

Right then, the conversation of a pair of girls passing by drifted straight into my ears.

"Hey, look. Wasn't that guy just now super stylish and handsome?"

"I saw him, I saw him! Honestly, his face is pretty average, but his sense of style is so top-tier it completely caught my eye."

"Is the person next to him his girlfriend? Man, they totally give off that unapproachable, elite-couple vibe!"

"Ugh, a minute ago I saw some dangerously tacky freak wearing silver-and-yellow striped body armor and I thought my eyes were going to rot out of my skull, but seeing him completely cured me. Truly, thank god."

"……………………"

I see, I see, I see, I see……

"What is it? Why do you suddenly have that incredibly smug look on your face?"

"Oh, nothing. I just realized that my era has finally arrived!" "Huh? Where is this coming from all of a sudden?"

"I mean, my previous silver-and-yellow striped body armor suited me incredibly well, too, but—"

"It did not suit you."

"—but this high-class outfit is a fine piece of work as well. Yes, I'm quite fond of it, Cordelia!"

"You…… are a much bigger opportunist than I thought."

How rude. I was simply stating that I liked the merchandise from the shop Cordelia had so graciously introduced me to!

"Oh, right, speaking of which. Thanks, Cordelia."

"Huh? Thanks for what?"

"What do you mean, 'for what?' You paid for it. My clothes. They were insanely expensive, are you sure it's okay?"

"And who exactly said I was paying for it?"

"Eh?"

But you literally just paid for it back there.

Cordelia lightly brushed her blonde twin-tails behind her shoulder, giving me a dismissive, mocking sidelong glance.

"They're your clothes, so obviously you are the one paying for them. I simply paid on your behalf because it didn't look like you had the cash on hand. You'll be paying me back later."

"W-Wait a minute! Don't just make things up as you go! In the first place, there's no way in hell I have that kind of money……"

Point!

A finger tipped with perfectly manicured, glossy polish was thrust right in front of my nose. Cordelia was pointing directly at me.

"You have the bounty reward coming in for defeating the Violet Dragon yesterday, don't you? The prize money for that was supposed to be 100 million Noogle. Even splitting it evenly between the two of us, that's 50 million per person. Oh dear, how much did you say that full-body set you just bought cost again?"

It was a math problem with entirely different orders of magnitude. There was no way to misunderstand it. It still felt a bit hard to swallow…… but then again, the fact that I was even getting the bounty reward for the Violet Dragon in the first place was entirely thanks to meeting Cordelia. Plus, I had already grown quite…… no, very fond of this outfit myself.

If that was the case, I suppose I just had to suck it up and look at it as a necessary business expense.

"……Fine. I'll pay for it. That's what you want, right?"

"Good. As long as you understand. Besides……"

Cordelia lowered the finger she had been thrusting at my nose down to my chest. Then, she let her shapely nail tap against my brand-new mithril breastplate with a sharp ting, letting the sound echo between us.

"Doesn't this make you look a little more like a man worthy of holding me?"

With that, she gave a seductive, heart-melting wink that felt like a direct shot straight through my chest.

Leaving me standing there completely starstruck, Cordelia clapped her hands together as if suddenly remembering something.

"Oh, right! Kent, since you went through all the trouble of getting a brand-new set of gear, wouldn't you like to test it out to see how it performs in actual combat?"
